Radical depravity/ Total Depravity –
That man is so at enmity with God that he is unable to seek Him, want Him, or receive Him!
Man, according to Ephesians 2:1 and Colossians 2:13, is dead in his sins, according to Romans 6:13 & John 8:34 we were slaves to sin! Romans 3:10-18 says, As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.
If you're dead, you can't live by your own power, if you're a slave you can't set yourself free and due the fall we do exactly what we want, what our nature demands, we sin!
We will not nor can we seek God without the Holy Spirit working effectually in our hearts giving us ears to hear and eyes to see!
