I've been in ministry for nearly a decade now and there's one thing I long to do, give Jesus Christ every ounce of worship and adoration He so rightly deserves! The problem; well I've noticed that in my attempt to worship Christ I erect an idol instead. Not purposely of course but it happened the same. In ministry there have been times where the response to the message or the number in the seats or the involvement of the audience became my focus over Christ! Think about it in the context of marriage. Let me explain, sometimes in marriage the appearance of our spouse, their income, their ability to please us become more of the focus than our spouse to whom we have committed! We do the same thing with our espoused, Christ! As the bride we focus more on ourselves than our bridegroom! To some the idol is religion, required dress, legalism, music and it's types, CHURCH and Church attendance, offerings, the building, TRADITION or tradition over grace, GRACE (to some grace supercedes the grace giver!), deeds and works, and on and on and on! The most intimate worship of God will always be investing in the least of these and in that pure worship you won't need religion, you don't have to dress a certain way, no music, no church building or service, no tradition, the only thing you need is to give what you've been given..... GRACE! It's time to tear down the groves and high places in our religious worship and bring back to the forefront pure, biblical, unadulterated WORSHIP! If we only "worship" inside a certain building at a certain time then we will never truly worship! Yes corporate church worship is of an utmost importance but it's not THE importance! There's only one who can sit on that throne and it's the one who deserves and will receive our worship, either now by request or then by demand!
